To cap off your time at MMS, 8th Grade Music Appreciation is all about the History of Rock 'n Roll. Students will take a journey through the decades of 20th Century American popular music, widely Rock 'n Roll. Students will participate in various activities about music genres like Rock 'n Roll, Motown, Disco, Rap, and take a look at popular 1980's music videos. Students will discuss pioneers of Rock 'n Roll music like Elvis, The Beatles, and Michael Jackson (among others) and learn how each have influenced current music and musicians. The 8th Grade students will also learn to play the ukulele throughout the term. We will learn to play as beginners using some of the famous songs by the pioneers of rock music, as well as some current popular music. By the end of the term, students will know how to read ukulele tablature and chords.

MAYBE Students will be given in-class time to complete both independent and group activities. Any work that is not completed during that time will turn into homework.
Students who miss class for ANY reason are responsible for learning about the work they missed, catching up on notes, and turning in any missing work as soon as possible.
